June 24, 2026

Sergeant Ronald Gene Catterson

United States Army
Fort Collins, Colorado
June 24, 1947 – June 29, 1968

Today, VetVault honors Sergeant Ronald Gene Catterson, a young soldier from Fort Collins, Colorado, who served with C Company, 4th Battalion, 21st Infantry, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division during the Vietnam War. (The Virtual Wall)

Ronald was born on June 24, 1947. Five days after his 21st birthday, on June 29, 1968, he gave his life in South Vietnam. His name is forever engraved on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., at Panel 54W, Line 16. (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund)

Every name on The Wall carries more than a date and a rank. It carries a family, a hometown, a voice, a future, and a story that must not fade. Sergeant Catterson’s service reminds us that sacrifice is not an old word from a history book. It is a real cost, paid by real people, and remembered by a grateful nation.

Today, we pause to honor Ronald Gene Catterson, son of Colorado, soldier of the United States Army, and one of America’s fallen heroes.

We honor your service. We remember your sacrifice.

Honor the Fallen. Support the Living. Teach the Next Generation.
